"I appreciate the unity and hardworking spirit among the Christians that enabled the genesis of the construction of this church but looking at what is needed to have it finished, I see it wise to ask well wishers o intervene so that the work is finalised before rains starts" Fr Chiwanda said.  "Let me thank Honourable Mary Mpanga the member of parliament for Phalombe South constituency where the new church is for the support towards this initiative. On a special note I would like to thank a grouping  Catholics from Blantyre called I'm a Catholic and I'm proud for gracing function and also for their monetary support towards the work" He added.  On her part, the guest of honour Hon Mary Mpanga  commended the Phalombe Parishioners and Christians of St Paul in particular for the spirit of self reliance shown from the commencement of the construction work. "I am impressed with your hardworking, teamwork and self reliance spirit. I therefore promise to work with you up to the end of the construction work" she said.  The construction of the new church started in 2013 but has been delayed due to lack of funds.
